The maximum number of IC693CHS398 expansion baseplates supported per system varies by CPU model: up to 4 units can be integrated when paired with CPU 331, 340, or 341; conversely, CPUs at the 350 level and above can support as many as 7 expansion baseplates simultaneously. The baseplate is equipped with 5 I/O slots that are also compatible with option module installation, featuring uniquely sized slots to prevent incorrect module insertion and ensure secure, compliant assembly.
For operational functionality, the IC693CHS398 requires a dedicated power supply module, which is mounted in a specialized power supply slot located on the left side of the hardware.
