The IC693PCM301 is a Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM) engineered for compatibility with the Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) product family—originally manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation and recently acquired by Emerson Automation. This integrated PCM module features a single 25-pin port that functions as a dual-port interface, supporting both Modbus and GE Fanuc’s CCM communication protocols.
Designed to enhance the host controller’s processing capabilities, the IC693PCM301 enables the Series 90-30 PLC to run non-native or third-party applications. A key example is the Basic Programming Language (BAS), which facilitates the development of custom executables for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system implementation. Additionally, the module supports seamless data exchange with a wide range of peripheral devices, including programming terminals, CRT displays, barcode readers, scales, printers, ASCII-compatible devices, and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) master devices.
For installation, the IC693PCM301 is exclusively compatible with CPU baseplates, with the exception of the CPU-reserved slot (designated as CPU/1). It is not suitable for mounting in expansion or remote racks, nor is it compatible with embedded CPU models such as the 311, 313, and 323. The module is equipped with intuitive status indicators: a Module OK LED, plus US1 and US2 LEDs that monitor the operation of its two internal serial ports. A dedicated restart pushbutton allows for module initialization without requiring a full rack reboot or software intervention. In terms of memory, the IC693PCM301 boasts 192 Kbytes of total built-in memory, with 47 Kbytes allocated specifically for MegaBasic applications.

It is a standalone module that can be inserted into any available slot on Series 90-30 PLC baseplates, excluding the first slot—reserved exclusively for the system’s power supply unit. Once integrated, the PLC gains the ability to communicate with a diverse array of peripherals, including serial programming terminals, serial-enabled computer monitors, barcode readers, personal computers, electronic scales, serial printers, ASCII devices, and RTUs configured as master devices.
The module supports configuration via multiple protocols, including GE Fanuc CCM, MegaBasic, Modbus RTU, and C programming language. Its two serial ports can be programmed to serve as either communication interfaces or MegaBasic connection points. The front panel features three LED indicators that provide real-time visibility into the module’s operational status and the functionality of its dual ports. An internal lithium battery is another critical feature, ensuring that user-stored data is retained for extended periods in the event of a major power outage.
